Greece in the Eurozone: An Evaluation of the First Two Decades

On the 31st of December 2021, euro celebrated its two decades in circulation. Initially, twelve countries adopted as their new national currency, Greece being one them. Starting 2020, is official currency nineteen European Union countries. This paper aims to examine three issues. Firstly, investigates Greek people’s perception about euro, using data from recent issue Eurobarometer (December 2021). Secondly, economic performance briefly examined by comparing Gross Domestic Product (GDP) before and after introduction euro. Finally, participation eurozone has been a controversial, political issue. The developments during first are also studied, emphasizing dramatic events double elections 2012. period ends with detrimental impact COVID-19. mentioned reviewing some publications.
